Beyond Skin Deep

My art piece is a rotating sculpture that represents my critique of the societal pressure for eternal youth. It is an expression of my belief that society places too much emphasis on external appearance and social media. Using iron wire, tin foil, medical gauze, and newspaper, I constructed an avatar that symbolizes the superficiality of our obsession with physical appearance and the need to prioritize internal growth and self-improvement.
To bring my artwork to life, I incorporated an Arduino stepper motor to control the speed of the avatar's head as it rotates from the backside to the front side, engaging the audience in a dynamic interaction with the piece. The motorized movement serves as a metaphor for the constant pressure to keep up with societal expectations and the exhausting effort required to maintain a facade of eternal youth.
